(Excerpts from incoming President Brian Jarvis’s remarks at the 2024 MVMAA Annual Meeting & Dinner, 12 November 2024, Wright-Patt Country Club, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio)
What an incredible evening! We’re together this evening to remember and celebrate another successful year for MVMAA, and to recognize those who have given unselfishly of themselves to benefit others. This exemplifies why MVMAA was founded. As we all know, MVMAA was formed in 1980 in response to local Chambers of Commerce and individuals expressing an interest in an area-wide community organization to support our local military installations.
Though times have changed, and the military’s mission has changed, MVMAA’s focus has remained steadfast to fostering military-community understanding and partnerships. For nearly 45 years, the response from individuals, local communities, and our installation partners has been overwhelming. Our goal for 2025 – the 45th year of MVMAA – is to grow those efforts and relationships even more.
As is always the case, we need to continue growing our membership and better publicize what we do, so that more of our community gets involved. We have a number of membership levels by which we each can support MVMAA – individual, 5-year, corporate, and lifetime memberships – each providing the opportunity to support activities inside the fence.
With that growth in membership, MVMAA will be positioned to ensure that the Airmen and Guardians on these installations have local community support while they’re stationed here. And while you’re spreading the word and renewing your own MVMAA memberships, consider volunteering to serve on one of our committees. We have a number of volunteer opportunities available. The backbone of any organization is its volunteers. We need your support to succeed in these efforts.
I’d like us all to remember that we’re all ambassadors for MVMAA. Together we can continue fostering our military-community understanding and partnerships. Remember that our lives are not only about what we do or what we collect, they’re about what we leave for others; it’s about giving and service. The Air Force has this same concept incorporated into one of its core values – that of “Service before self.”
Thank you for your support and commitment to embracing MVMAA’s mission. I look forward to working together with you in 2025 to continue furthering MVMAA’s rich legacy.
Again, I’m looking forward to serve as MVMAA President in the year ahead.
Brian V. Jarvis
2025 President, MVMAA
